Russia exports 33.3 mln tonnes of grain in farm year so far

MOSCOW. May 29 (Interfax) - Russia exported 33.3 million tonnes of grain in the current agricultural year (July 2016-June 2017) through May 22, 2% less than in the same period of the previous farm year, Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) reported, citing data from phytosanitary certificates issued by the Center for Grain Quality Assessment.

Wheat exports amounted to 25.8 million tonnes (77% of the total), up 4%. Corn exports were at 4.6 million tonnes (14%), down 0.3% and barley - 2.7 million tonnes (8%), down 38%.

Exports of feed, compound feed and components rose 4% to 2.7 million tonnes, oilseed crop exports were up 23% to 1.6 million tonnes and legumes - up 18% to 820,000 tonnes. However, demand for export of processed-grain products from Russia fell 42% to 531,000 tonnes.

The Agriculture Ministry forecasts that Russia will export 34 million-35 million tonnes of grain in the farm year ending on June 30, 2017, up slightly from 33.9 million tonnes in the previous farm year.
