Putin hopes West will sooner or later realize that russophobia is counterproductive

ST. PETERSBURG. June 1 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said he believes russophobia in some countries will not last forever and some people are already realizing the harm done by such policies.

"Will it last long? I still hope that not so long, not forever, at least because the realization should come that it's counterproductive and it harms everyone," Putin said at a meeting with the heads of international agencies at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in St. Petersburg on Thursday.

Anti-Russia policies "do certain harm to us, too, but it only harms those who initiate such policies," he said.

"In my view, this realization is already coming. It is perfectly obvious that we already see some changes of the situation. And [these changes are positive. I hope this tendency will continue," Putin said.
