Baku promoting higher level of relations with United States - presidential assistant
BAKU. June 5 (Interfax) - Baku is hoping to expand cooperation with Washington, Assistant to the Azerbaijani President for Foreign Policy Issues Novruz Mammadov told reporters on Monday.
"Despite the global tensions, we believe there is a vast potential for achieving a new level in the relations between Azerbaijan and the United States," Mammadov said, answering an Interfax question.
The letters from U.S. President Donald Trump indicate possibilities for developing cooperation, he said.
"In addition, Trump spelled out principles of U.S. cooperation with various countries of the world in his speech at the Arab Islamic American Summit. We like those principles," Mammadov said.
Baku has been taking "necessary steps in order to reach a new level in relations with Washington," he said.
