DPR reports over 40 Ukrainian army attacks in past 24 hours
DONETSK/KYIV. June 5 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian armed forces have breached the truce over 40 times in the past 24 hours, causing death of a Donetsk woman and inflicting injuries on her 9-year-old son, the Defense Ministry of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) said on Monday.
"The Ukrainian army breached the truce 44 times during the day. In all, the army attacked 18 populated localities in the republic, using tanks, artillery, mortars, infantry combat vehicles, armored personnel carriers, grenade launchers, and small arms," a ministry spokesman told the press.
A house was hit in the Petrovskyi district of Donetsk, the spokesman said. "A woman born in 1980 was killed on Chernohorska Street in the Petrovskyi district; her son born in 2008 sustained a heavy injury and was hospitalized," he said.
The army operation staff said on Facebook, for its part, that the militia launched 60 attacks on the Ukrainian army positions over the past day, and two soldiers were wounded. There were 28 attacks in the Mariupol sector, 12 in the Donetsk sector, and 20 in the Luhansk sector, Kyiv said.
