Volodin suggests creating OSCE PA special committee on fight against terrorism, extremism
BELGRADE. June 5 (Interfax) - Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin has called for the creation of a special committee on the fight against terrorism and extremism in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).
"It would be right if the OSCE PA created a special committee on the fight against terrorism and extremism. And we believe that these issues undoubtedly require a reaction from the countries, the parliaments that are included in this parliamentary assembly," Volodin told reporters on Monday in Belgrade, where he leads a State Duma delegation.
It is necessary to make more effective use of international parliamentary structures to fight terrorism and resolve issues relating to the security of countries and fight drug trafficking and illegal migration, he said.
"In this regard, the OSCE PA should work more effectively on resolving issues relating to countering those challenges which, as we now see, have been brought upon every European country, which is causing people's deaths," the parliamentarian said.
