Uzbek ex-finance minister Nurmuratov named to head Central Bank
TASHKENT. June 7 (Interfax) - Mamarizo Nurmuratov has been appointed chairman of Uzbekistan's Central Bank, under a Senate resolution approved on Tuesday, the information service of the upper house of parliament reported.
Prior to the appointment, Nurmuratov was the chairman of the Senate Committee for the Budget and Economic Reform. He was the head of administration in Samarkand region in 2004-2006 and Uzbek Finance Minister in 2000-2004.
Nurmuratov replaces the late Fayzulla Mullajanov, who had been Central Bank chairman since 1991. Mullajanov died on May 23 at the age of 67.
