Kyiv itself breaking away from Donbas - Gryzlov

MINSK. June 7 (Interfax) - The Russian representative in the Trilateral Contact Group mediating the Ukrainian conflict has described as "simply medieval" the ban imposed by the official Ukrainian authorities on a number of Russian IT companies, which essentially have become international.

"Of the same series was a recommendation by a Ukrainian official, the director of the institute of national remembrance, for Ukrainians to cut off ties with their relatives in Russia. Maybe, it would be more honest to rename this structure into an institute of national oblivion?" Boris Gryzlov told journalists on Wednesday.

Effectively, official Kyiv is itself moving farther away from Donbas: "Kyiv is creating ever more points of no-return to Ukraine for Donbas," Gryzlov said.

On June 1, the Kyiv city council voted to rename General Vatutin Avenue after Roman Shukhevych, the chief commander of the Ukrainian Insurgent Army, the Russian representative said. Sixty-nine out of 79 councilors voted to rename the street, he said. "By the way, I don't believe that Kyivans would vote likewise in an honest referendum," Gryzlov said.

In addition to these and other steps, new language quotas are being drafted for Ukrainian media, he said. "There is a suspicion that such points of no return are being created deliberately," Gryzlov said.
