OSCE SMM in Donbas should be reinforced - Ukrainian FM
KYIV. June 7 (Interfax) - The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe's Special Monitoring Mission (OSCE SMM) in Donbas needs to be reinforced both in a technical aspect and by an increase in the number of monitors, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said.
"Unfortunately, the mission's access to the majority of sectors in Donbas is blocked, unfortunately, the mission cannot maintain 24-hour presence, but the mission is currently the only way to control the Russian aggressor. The mission should be reinforced and we spoke about that today. Both in the sense of contingent, the number of employees and in a technical aspect," Klimkin said at a joint press conference with Austrian Foreign Minister and OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Sebastian Kurz in Kyiv on Wednesday.
The sides discussed the possibility of joint actions in settling the situation in Donbas, release of captives, and the extension of the OSCE SMM's mandate, Klimkin said.
