Kazakhstan ready to fight terrorism, extremism together with Iran - Nazarbayev
ASTANA. June 8 (Interfax) - Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has sent a message of condolences to Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in connection with the terror attacks in Tehran, the presidential press service said in a report.
"We strongly condemn any acts of international terrorism and extremism which jeopardize peace and security. Kazakhstan is always ready to further cooperation with Iran in the fight against contemporary threats for the sake of peace and security of our nations," the telegram said.
Nazarbayev said he was aggrieved to learn about multiple casualties inflicted by the terror attacks in the Iranian parliament and near the Mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini in Tehran and extended condolences to the families and friends of the victims on behalf of the people of Kazakhstan and himself.
Armed men opened fire in the Iranian parliament on Wednesday morning. An attack on the Mausoleum of Ayatollah Khomeini followed. ISIL (banned in a number of countries, including Russia and Kazakhstan) claimed the responsibility for the attacks. The incidents took at least 12 lives and 43 people were wounded.
