MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - Russian plant and animal health watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor banned imports of meat and byproducts, as well as cheese from 31 Brazilian suppliers effective June 9.
The decision was made "in accordance with a notification of the relevant Brazilian authority," Rosselkhoznadzor said.
The notification states that these suppliers cannot fully comply with the veterinary and sanitary standards of Russia and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Rosselkhoznadzor told Interfax.
The list of banned suppliers include nine producers of beef, nine producers of poultry, 8 of pork and two of cheese. Imports have also been restricted from one horse slaughterhouse and two meat storage facilities.
