Russian sports minister welcomes WADA decision to drop inquiry into Russian fencers

MOSCOW. June 9 (Interfax) - Russian Sports Minister Pavel Kolobkov has backed the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) decision to discontinue an inquiry against 27 Russian fencers.

"Of course, I am glad, I had no doubt that each one of these guys was clean. As a former fencer myself, I am doubly pleased for my colleagues," Kolobkov told Interfax.

It was reported that WADA had no charges against the 27 Russian fencers, who were mentioned in Richard McLaren's report, and were no longer under investigation.
