Eight terrorists detained in Belarus in 2017 - State Security Committee head
MINSK. June 13 (Interfax) - The Belarusian State Security Committee has detained eight terrorists since the beginning of the year, the committee's head Valery Vakulchik said.
"We, the State Security Committee, have detained eight terrorists this year, 17 the past year and 21 the year before that. Those are persons involved in terrorist and extremist activities on international wanted lists, persons who had been to Syria. One of them arrived from Germany," the Belarusian state media quoted Vakulchik as saying in Minsk on Tuesday.
The latter was detained in cooperation with the Interior Ministry's agencies; he had carried an explosive device and plotted a terror attack in Europe, he said.
"We can't let such incidents and deaths of people, which are happening in some other counties, happen in our country. We should take this very seriously," the committee's chairman said.
