MiG-35 exports could begin within 2 years - Rosoboronexport
PARIS. June 19 (Interfax-AVN) - Exports of Russia's new fighter jet, the Mikoyan MiG-35, may begin in a year or two, as it has yet to be fitted with competitive armament, Rosoboronexport's general director Alexander Mikheyev said.
"This will take a year or two," Mikheyev told journalists, responding to a relevant question.
"The aircraft itself is certainly a competitive product," he said.
"We will definitely be working on it today and tomorrow. All tests should be brought to the certification conclusion. Most importantly, should the aircraft meet all set flight-technical and tactical-technical characteristics, it will, of course, need to have competitive armament. So that we can fully, as a program, offer this light fighter to our partners," Mikheyev said.
"We are very serious about this aircraft," he said.
"I think within a year or two the aircraft will be brought in line with all stated endurance characteristics, get the necessary shape, and all tests will be completed and [it will be] subsequently admitted as an exportable product," Mikheyev said.
