Studio Seven ex-general producer Malobrodsky detained in embezzlement case - Russian Investigative Committee
MOSCOW. June 20 (Interfax) - Studio Seven's former general producer Alexei Malobrodsky has been detained as part of a criminal inquiry into the embezzlement of budget funds allocated to Studio Seven, Russian Investigative Committee spokesperson Svetlana Petrenko said on Tuesday.
"Former general producer of Studio Seven Alexei Malobrodsky was detained on June 19 as a suspect. In the near future, the investigation plans to bring charges against him and ask the court to choose a restraining measure for him," she said.
"Investigative agencies of the Main Investigation Department of the Russian Investigative Committee for the city of Moscow continue to probe the criminal case opened under a Russian Penal Code article of especially large-scale fraud," Petrenko said.
According to investigators, unidentified persons from the Studio Seven administration stole some 200 million rubles allocated by the Russian government for the development and popularization of art in 2011-2014.
The suspects in this criminal case are former Studio Seven chief accountant Nina Maslyayeva, who has been remanded into custody as a restraining measure, and the organization's ex-director Yury Itin, who has been placed under house arrest.
