Next disengagement attempt in Stanytsia Luhanska may take place on June 30 - Deinego

DEINEGO. June 26 (Interfax) - The next disengagement attempt in the area of Stanytsia Luhanska may take place on June 30, LPR envoy in the contact group on the settlement of the conflict in Donbas said.

"They [representatives of the Ukrainian side] are now saying [June] 30 is a possible date [of the next disengagement attempt] [...] But, unfortunately, I'm afraid that our changes of disengagement will be minimal on June 30," Deinego told reporters on Monday.

Deinego said the Ukrainian side is not making any attempts to ensure a round-the-clock ceasefire in the Stanytsia Luhanska area.

"The key significance of the first disengagement stage is that it gives us an opportunity to begin approval of the next disengagement sites, broaden this practice to the entire contact line to stabilize this line, stop mutual attacks [...] Without disengagement we cannot achieve a result, it's very difficult to prevent provocations as long as there is visual contact between the units on both sides. Provocations by the Ukrainian side occur constantly in a systemic way," Deinego said.

According to earlier reports, a disengagement attempt failed in the Stanytsia Luhanska area on Monday. The militia fired a signal rocket, but did not get a signal from the Ukrainian side on its readiness to begin withdrawal. Over 40 such attempts have already occurred.
