Motor Design Bureau's chief Varochko to head up Khrunichev center after Kalinovsky's departure - source

MOSCOW. June 26 (Interfax) - The head of Motor Design Bureau (a branch of the TsENKI center that operates the ground control infrastructure), Alexei Varochko, will replace Andrei Kalinovsky as General Director of the Khrunichev Center, a source in the space rocket industry told Interfax.

"The Khrunichev Center's General Director Andrei Kalinovsky is joining the Roscosmos state corporation as its Executive Director for Quality. Alexei Varochko is replacing him as head of the Center," the source said.

Varochko graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute in 1982, majoring in "the electrical equipment of aerial vehicles." In 1987 he completed studies in "automotive electronics" at the Moscow Automobile and Road Construction Institute. Currently he is TsENKi's deputy general director for production development and Motor's director and chief design engineer.

The federal state unitary enterprise Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center is one of leading enterprises in the Russian space rocket industry. The company specialists in Proton rockets and their upper stages and designing a family of prospective Angara carrier rockets.
