Ukrainian cyber police registers 22 complaints over hacker attacks

KYIV. June 27 (Interfax) - The National Police of Ukraine has received 22 reports about interference with the operation of personal computers and police experts are currently working to stop the virus from spreading and to mitigate its consequences, Ukrainian National Police spokesperson Yaroslav Trakalo said.

"These reports come from both state-run and private firms," Trakalo wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday.

Among others, there is a complaint from a mobile communications operator, Trakalo said.

Similar reports of cyber attacks came to regional offices of the cyber crime police department, he said.

"Reports of interference affecting work of personal computers are still coming. All of them are being registered. Upon receipt of such reports, the Cyber Police Department and other services working on counteraction against the spreading of the virus and on mitigation of its effects send their experts," Trakalo said.

Presently, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry's official website is also dysfunctional due to a cyber attack.

"Dear friends, the official website of the Interior Ministry is not currently operating due to cyber attacks. Follow our updates on the official page[s] in FB [Facebook] and TW [Twitter]," the Interior Ministry said in Twitter.
