Russian parliamentarians to monitor presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan - Volodin
BISHKEK. June 28 (Interfax) - The Russian State Duma will sent monitors to the Kyrgyz presidential elections scheduled for October 15.
"We said that our monitors will participate in the election monitoring, bearing in mind that the national legislation is a priority," Russian State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said following negotiations with his Kyrgyz counterpart.
The president is elected for one six-year term in Kyrgyzstan. The powers in incumbent President Almazbek Atambayev expire on December 1, 2017.
