U.S. representative joins Astana meeting of working group on Syria

ASTANA. July 4 (Interfax) - Acting U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for the Near East Affairs Bureau Stuart Jones has joined the fifth Astana round of negotiations on de-escalation areas in Syria.

Jones arrived in the hotel, where the working meeting on Syria's de-escalation areas began several hours ago with the participation of experts from the truce guarantor countries - Russia, Iran and Turkey, an Interfax correspondent said.

Head of the Syrian governmental delegation Bashar al-Jaafari and Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Syria Staffan de Mistura are also participating in the meeting.
