Russians more actively supporting United Russia - poll
MOSCOW. July 6 (Interfax) - Sociologists from Levada-Center studying the electoral preferences of the public have identified a considerable growth in the share of respondents supporting the United Russia party.
Thus, if elections to the State Duma were held next Sunday, 39% of Russians as a whole would vote for the party, as would 63% of respondents that are ready to go to polling stations and have made their choice. Last year the respective figures were 35% and 55%.
Second place is shared by Communists and Liberal Democrats who have the support of 8% of Russians as a whole and 13% of those who have made their choice. Meanwhile in June 2016 Communists had the support of 18% of those making their choice and Liberal Democrats - 14%.
They are followed by A Just Russia with 2% of Russians as a whole and 3% of those who have made their choice, sociologists told Interfax.
In addition, 1% of Russians as a whole and those who have made their choice are ready to vote for the Civil Platform, Yabloko, PARNAS, Fatherland, Patriots of Russia and Party of Pensioners each.
The poll was conducted on June 23-26 and involved 1,600 adults in 137 cities and communities in 48 regions of Russia. The statistical error does not exceed 3.4%.
Elections to the seventh State Duma took place on September 18, 2016. According to official results, United Russia collected 54.2% of the vote on the federal party ballot. Communists (13.34%), Liberal Democrats (13.14%) and A Just Russia (6.22%) came in second, third and fourth respectively.
