Communications Ministry, Russian Post actions on bonus for former CEO were legal - Dvorkovich

MOSCOW. July 11 (Interfax) - The Communications Ministry and Russian Post acted within the law regarding the bonus paid to the state company's former CEO Dmitry Strashnov, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich told reporters.

"I think that the position of the ministry and Post was justified and everything was within the law," Dvorkovich said. "I think that everything was done within the bounds of legislation," he added.

Russia's Prosecutor General's office sent materials to the Investigative Committee in November 2016 in order to open criminal cases against Strashnov on charges of abuse of office, as well as against the heads of two Communications Ministry departments on charges of negligence. Following a probe, it was found that Russian Post's CEO was illegally paid a bonus of 95.4 million rubles for 2014.

"I hope that our law enforcement agencies will sort it out and everything will be alright," Dvorkovich said. He declined to comment on whether Strashnov will be paid bonuses for 2015 and 2016.
