Ratification of EU-Ukraine Association Agreement completed - Poroshenko
KYIV. July 11 (Interfax) - The Council of the European Union completed the ratification of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement on Tuesday and the sides will coordinate ways of the most efficient and rapid achievement of the agreement's objectives at the Ukraine-EU summit in Kyiv on Wednesday, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said.
"We will coordinate ways to ensure the most efficient and rapid achievement of the agreement's objective and how to get to a new stage of our partnership at the summit with EU leaders in Kyiv tomorrow," Poroshenko wrote on his Facebook page on Tuesday.
"A qualitatively new stage of our journey to the European Union" will begin on September 1, 2017, Poroshenko said.
This is a new stage of "profound and comprehensive reforms that will require maximum efforts and uniting all branches of the Ukrainian government, business, and civic society to build a better European future for all the Ukrainian people." "And the European Union and the entire civilized world will help us along the way," Poroshenko said.
"The association agreement was one of the key demands and expectations of the Euromaidan," he said. "And I am happy that we were able to collectively achieve it. And the Kremlin, which mobilized all its resources against the association agreement, cynically violated international law, and started the aggression against Ukraine, has suffered another defeat. I am convinced that we are going to win. Ukraine is surely going to enter into the family of European nations,-both into the EU and NATO," Poroshenko said.
