Court sanctions arrest of Russian border guards detained in Ukraine - SBU

KYIV. July 11 (Interfax) - The court ruled to arrest the servicemen of the Russian Federal Security Service's (FSB) Border Guards Service, who had been detained in the Kherson region on June 30, the press service for the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) said on Tuesday.

"The Kherson region's Appeals Court selected a restrictive measure in the form of arrest for them today. The investigation continues," the SBU press service said.

In addition, Russian border guards were notified that they are suspects of committing a crime. "Investigators of the SBU department for the Kherson region notified the Russian border guards, who had been on assignment for the benefit of the Russian Federation to the detriment of Ukraine, of suspicion of committing a crime under the Part 2 of the Article 110 of the Ukrainian Criminal Code (infringement on Ukraine's territorial integrity)," it said.

As reported, border guards of the Kherson detachment in cooperation with the Ukrainian Armed Forces servicemen detained two unidentified persons without documents in the Kherson region in the early hours of June 30, 2017, and subsequently established that the detainees are servicemen of the Russian Security Service's Border Guard Service.
