Russian railway freight haulage up 4.7% in H1

MOSCOW. July 12 (Interfax) - Russia's railways carried 678.88 million tonnes of freight in January-June 2017, up 4.7% year-on-year, rail monopoly Russian Railways (RZD) said in materials, seen by Interfax.

The data has not been adjusted for the extra day in February 2016.

Domestic shipments rose 1.2% to 396.516 million tonnes, exports rose 8.6% to 230.916 million tonnes, imports grew 15.3% to 40.679 million tonnes and transit increased 23.8% to 10.769 million tonnes.

International shipments via Russian ports increased 7.2% to 151.316 million tonnes while shipments via border crossings grew 13.6% to just over 131.048 million tonnes.
