Turkey puts nearly 2,000 Kazakh citizens suspected of links to terrorists on entry ban list
ASTANA. July 17 (Interfax) - The Turkish Interior Ministry has put 1,914 Kazakh citizens on a list of individuals denied entry to Turkey because of their likely links to international terrorism, the ministry said in a report posted on its website.
The list includes a total of 53,781 individuals from 146 countries. The Turkish Interior Ministry believes these people are linked to international terrorism and may try to enter conflict zones via Turkish territory.
Kazakhstan is eighth on the list in terms of the number of its citizens whom Turkey suspects of being tied to terrorism. The list is led by Saudi Arabia (7,523 people), Tunisia (4,605), and Russia (4,128).
The countries whose citizens have most frequently been arrested or caught by Turkey in an attempt to get to Syria via its territory are Russia, France, Iran, Libya, and Azerbaijan.
