Kosachyov calls for preparation of hurtful response to new U.S. anti-Russian sanctions
MOSCOW. July 26 (Interfax) - The voting in the U.S. Congress on the new sanctions against Russia shows that there will be no normalization of the relations between the two countries and Moscow should prepare a hurtful response to Washington's actions, Konstantin Kosachyov, the head of the Federation Council committee on international affairs, said.
"Judging by the monolithic voting in the House of Representatives on the sanctions package against Russia, Iran and North Korea, not only a breakthrough won't happen, but normalization won't happen, either. Moreover, further deterioration of bilateral cooperation becomes inevitable, although it seems things can't get any worse," Kosachyov said on Facebook.
"What to do? Firstly, not to rush things. Our official reaction should follow a law in legal force (about which, unfortunately, there are no doubts, but still). Secondly, to prepare such a reaction because it has to happen. Not symmetrical, but sensitive to the Americans," he said.
The senator said he believes such reaction should follow the law and all actions on Russian real estate, diplomats, etc. that preceded it.
