Group of Georgian citizens detained in Italy on suspicion of apartment burglary - media
TBILISI. July 27 (Interfax) - The Italian police have detained in Milan a group of Georgian citizens on suspicion of committing a series of apartment burglaries, the Georgian media said on Tuesday.
According to the police, the gang, which comprised four citizens of Georgia, was led by a citizen of Italy.
According to the media reports, 18 Georgian citizens have been detained in Italy for burglaries in 2017.
Georgian Deputy Interior Minister Shalva Khutsiishvili said on July 24 that some 3,000 citizens of Georgia who had used visa-free regime with the EU countries had failed to return to their homeland within the established periods of time.
Visa-free travel was introduced in the EU Schengen area for Georgia on March 28, 2017. Citizens of Georgia can stay in the Schengen countries without visas for 90 days.
