Sixth meeting on Syria in Astana tentatively set for Aug 14-15 - source

ASTANA. Aug 1 (Interfax) - The sixth round of the talks on Syria in the Kazakh capital Astana may be held on August 14-15, a diplomatic source with knowledge of the matter told Interfax.

"The next [round of] talks in Astana may take place earlier than an initially determine date scheduled for the end of August. The [new] date has been tentatively set for August 14-15," the source said.

The Kazakh Foreign Ministry, for its part, has said it does not yet have information on a date for the next round of these negotiations in Astana.

"I have no such information," Kazakh Foreign Ministry spokesman Anuar Zhainakov told reporters in Astana on Tuesday.

The previous five rounds of the talks on Syria were held in the Kazakh capital on January 23-24, February 15-16, March 14-15, May 3-4, and July 4-5, 2017.
