FSB neutralizes gang dealing arms in Central, Urals Federal Districts

MOSCOW. Aug 3 (Interfax) - More than 20 pieces of weapons have been seized in the course of neutralization of an interregional gang dealing arms, a spokesman for the Federal Security Service (FSB) public relations center told Interfax on Thursday.

"The activity of an interregional criminal group engaged in illegal production and distribution of live weapons and ammunition in the Central and Urals Federal Districts has been stopped. Two active members of the group were caught selling weapons," the center said.

Twenty-two firearms made in Russia and other countries, more than 150 shells of various calibers, a substantial number of component parts, and technological equipment used to make firearms and ammunition were seized during searches of the detainees' residences, it said.

"The investigative division opened a criminal case against the detainees under Part 2, Article 223 of the Russian Criminal Code (illegal production of arms). Every circumstance of the uncovered illegal activity is being established, and investigative procedures are being conducted," it said.
