Rogozin, Dodon hold talks in Iran

MOSCOW. Aug 5 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin has held a meeting with Moldovan President Igor Dodon in Tehran.

"Negotiations with Moldovan President Dodon took place at the Russian Embassy in Iran," Rogozin said on Twitter on Saturday.

Rogozin went to Iran on Saturday heading the delegation representing Russia at President Hassan Rouhani's inauguration ceremony.

As reported, on July 28, Rogozin was scheduled to arrive in Moldova for a visit at President Igor Dodon's invitation. During his stay in Moldova, Rogozin intended to take part in events in Transdniestria and attend a meeting between Dodon and Transdniestrian leader Vadim Krasnoselsky in Bender.

On July 28, Romanian authorities had not permitted Rogozin, flying with a scheduled passenger flight, to pass through its territory, and therefore the plane was forced to land in Minsk, where from the Russian deputy prime minister returned to Moscow and the passengers continued their journey to Chisinau.

As Rogozin had not arrived, Transdniestrian authorities refused to meet with Dodon.

Rogozin confirmed his plans to meet with Moldovan President Igor Dodon during a trip to Iran on August 5 in an interview with a Moldovan TV channel, NTV. "I am due to speak with Dodon indeed. As the president has named me the Russian representative to the inauguration of the new Iranian president and as Igor Nikolayevich is also going there, we will have a meeting in Tehran. Yet without Churchill," Rogozin said.
