Putin, Xi to pay special attention to North Korea issue at their meeting in September - Lavrov

MANILA. Aug 6 (Interfax) - The leaders of Russia and China, Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping, will meet in China's Xiamen in one month, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"Further contacts are planned, specifically in Xiamen, and it will happen pretty soon, in one month. We are getting prepared for this next summit involving our leaders and we are hoping that during the meeting, President [Vladimir] Putin and President Xi Jinping will discuss key aspects of the bilateral relations, the interaction on international affairs, paying special attention to the North Korea issue," Lavrov said during his meeting with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

Moscow fully shares Beijing's evaluations of the Russia-China relations, both those between the two states, or two nations, and those between their leaders, he added.

Sergei Lavrov and Wang Yi have met on the sidelines of the ASEAN events in the Philippine capital Manila.

Russian presidential aide Yury Ushakov said earlier that Putin and Xi would hold a bilateral meeting during the next BRICS summit in China's Xiamen in early September.
