Ukrainian troops' weapon explodes killing 2 servicemen, injuring 5 near Donetsk's Maryinka

KYIV. Aug 8 (Interfax) - Two Ukrainian servicemen were killed and five injured in an explosion of a weapon, which had broken down, near Maryinka in the Donetsk region, the press service for the headquarters of the military operation (ATO) said.

"Illegal armed units began to shell Ukrainian strongholds hear Maryinka approximately at 4:00 a.m. ATO forces hit the enemy with a dense fire in retaliation. During this clash, one of our weapons went out of commission and exploded. As a result of this tragic incident, two Ukrainian troops were killed and five injured," the press center said on Facebook in a report of 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Law enforcement agencies are conducting an inquiry into this incident.
