LPR militiaman dies in Ukrainian army attack in Donbas

LUHANSK. Aug 10 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian army has launched six attacks on the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic (LPR) in the past 24 hours, killing a militiaman, an LPR militia spokesman told Interfax.

"The Ukrainian army breached the truce six times during the day, using 120mm and 82mm mortars, infantry combat vehicles, grenade launchers, and small arms," the report said.

According to the LPR militia, the Ukrainian army shelled the vicinity of Zholobok, Molodizhne and Kalynove.

"An LPR militiaman was killed as a result of those attacks. There has been neither damage to buildings nor civilian casualties," the militia said.

In turn, the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) saw 64 ceasefire breaches by the Ukrainian army during the day, a spokesman for the DPR operative command told reporters on Thursday.

"The vicinity of 22 populated localities in the republic came under attack of artillery, mortars, a tank, infantry combat vehicles, armored personnel carriers, grenade launchers, and small arms," the spokesman said.

The shelling damaged power transmission lines feeding five towns in the DPR south, he said.

"Repairs, which will help restore power supply to those towns, are underway," he said.
