UEC interested in supplying equipment for overhaul of power plant in Crimea

SIMFEROPOL. Aug 14 (Interfax) - Divisions of United Engine Corporation (UEC), a subsidiary of Russian state corporation Rostec, are discussing a project to supply equipment for the overhaul of the Sakskaya Combined Heat-and-Power Plant, which will increase the plant's capacity from 12 MW to 120 MW.

"There is no contract yet. There are plans [...] to supply equipment for the reconstruction of Sakskaya CHPP," the deputy CEO and managing director of UEC Gas Turbines, Oleg Rusnak told reporters on Monday.

All of the equipment will be Russian-made, he said.

UEC Gas Turbines hopes to carry out other projects in Crimea as well. "We came with proposals for the reconstruction of existing energy systems with construction of new power plants to cover the energy shortage. Our proposals are extensive," Rusnak said.

A source at Crimea's Fuel and Energy Ministry told Interfax in February that the possible delivery of two turbines for Sakskaya CHPP by UEC was discussed at a meeting with representatives of the ministry, KrymTETs and UEC. They discussed the delivery of two GTA-25 turbines with nominal capacity of 25 MW each. UEC did not comment on the talks at the time.

KrymTETs won a tender two weeks ago for the construction of the Sakskaya combined cycle plant in western Crimea. The plant was selected with a capacity price of 2.115 million rubles per MW. The capacity is supposed to be delivered starting December 1, 2017, but there is the possibility of deferment to June 1, 2018 for the whole amount and to November 1, 2018 for 25% of capacity. The plant is supposed to delivery power to the energy system of Crimea.

"This will be Russian-made equipment, acquired and installed without raising budget funds. The company proposes to build the new capacity near the current Sakskaya CHPP, since all of necessary infrastructure is already there," KrymTETs said in April, commenting on its plans to build the new plant.

JSC KrymTETs includes Simferopol CHPP, Kamysh-Burunskaya CHPP in Kerch, and Sakskiye Heating Networks, including Sakskaya CHPP.

Crimea was included in the first price zone on January 1, 2017.
