Concern Kalashnikov to showcase small-sized assault rifles at Army-2017 forum

IZHEVSK. Aug 19 (Interfax) - Concern Kalashnikov (part of Rostec state corporation) will exhibit AM-17 and AMB-17 small-size assault rifles at the Army-2017 International Military-Technical Forum, the company said on Facebook on Thursday.

"New at the exhibition will be the 5.45mm small-sized assault rifle, AM-17, and its noiseless variant, AMB-17, for the 9 x 39 cartridge, both based around the MA prototype shown last year," the statement says.

"The exhibition will display many models of combat weapon," including AK-12 and AK-15 assault rifles and the RPK-16 portable machinegun, the company said.

Also on display will be the so-called Series 200 of Kalashnikov rifles, a factory-based modification of the Series 100 (AK-74M, AK-101, AK-102, AK-103, AK-104, AK-105) under the Obves program.

"These assault rifles are fitted with a retractable, adjustable butt, an ergonomic pistol grip, a Picatinny rail foregrip, an improved safety selector switch, a new threaded flash hider and a flip-up handguard with a Picatinny rail," the statement says.

The company will also be exhibiting the family of Chukavin self-loading sniper rifles (SVCh), formerly known as the SVK, for 7.62x54R, 7.62x51 NATO and .338 Lapua cartridges. The SVD rifle with an upgraded kit will also be on display.

Visitors to the Kalashnikov exposition will also see the Lebedev PL-15 pistol. It will be displayed in several variants, including the striker-fired version with a decreased trigger pull and travel, and a shortened compact variant, PL-15K.

"Speaking of civilian guns, there will be several new models at the exhibition, including the long-awaited Airsoft gun models, new hunter carbines, Maral, Izyubr, Sobol, Los, several new models of the non-lethal and sporting rifle.

Kalashnikov will unveil a number of other new models at the Army-2017 forum, the company said.

The forum will be held in Kubinka, Moscow region, on August 22-27.
