Russian military escort 2 UN humanitarian convoys in Syria - Defense Ministry

MOSCOW. Aug 22 (Interfax-AVN) - Servicemen of the Russian center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria have protected two humanitarian convoys arranged by the United Nations in the past 24 hours; there have been three UN humanitarian operations in Syria in that period in all, the Russian Defense Ministry said on Tuesday.

"Humanitarian cargo (food) with a total weight of 63 tonnes was delivered to the town of Tell Gehab in the Daraa province," the ministry said.

Some 28 tonnes of food and medicines were brought to the town of at-Taybah in the Daraa province, the ministry said. Besides, 21 tonnes of food were airdropped in the Deir-ez-Zor area by the Abakan Air Russian airline.
