Stage director Serebrennikov's case is not worth a dime - veteran rights' activist Alexeyeva
MOSCOW. Aug 23 (Interfax) - Head of the Moscow Helsinki Group Lyudmila Alexeyeva is glad that stage director Kirill Serebrennikov will not be placed in a detention facility but thinks that his case should be closed.
"I am glad that he was placed under house arrest, not in a detention facility. But in my opinion, the case is not worth a dime and they should be left alone," Alexeyeva said to Interfax.
She said Serebrennikov's detention means that "law enforcers don't listen much even to the president to say nothing of those of lower rank."
"I don't understand why they have come down on Serebrennikov," the veteran human rights activist said.
As reported, Moscow's Basmanny Court on Wednesday complied with the motion of the investigation and put Serebrennikov under house arrest until October 19, 2017.
