MOSCOW/LIPETSK. Aug 24 (Interfax) - Russian children's rights commissioner Anna Kuznetsova is trying to find out what help should be given to a nine-year-old boy after his father murdered his mother in Los Angeles.
"Today we sent an inquiry to the Russian Consulate General in the United States asking to find out the circumstances of this horrible incident. It is important for us now to understand where the child is staying and in what condition, what help he needs, whether his relatives or other legal representatives are next to him," Kuznetsova said as quoted by her press service on Thursday.
She said that the office of the commissioner is ready to render the boy all the necessary assistance in the interests of observance of his lawful rights.
Earlier reports quoting the U.S. media said that on August 22 the Los Angeles police shot dead 48-yer-old Russian citizen Konstantin Morozov. He was suspected of kidnapping his nine-year-old son and murdering the boy's mother.
Kuznetsova's press service said that the Russian Consulate General confirmed that the boy the same as his killed parents has Russian citizenship.
