Director Serebrennikov's defense team appeals his house arrest
MOSCOW. Aug 25 (Interfax) - The defense team has appealed the house arrest of stage and film director and Gogol Center art director Kirill Serebrennikov, Yunona Tsaryova, the spokesperson for Moscow's Basmanny District Court, told Interfax.
"Appeals of lawyers representing the interests of defendant Serebrennikov against the court's ruling on imposing a restrictive measure in the form of house arrest on the latter were registered in the Basmanny Court," Tsaryova said.
The date of consideration for the appeal has not been assigned yet, she said.
The director's lawyer Dmitry Kharitonov told Interfax that he would request lifting Serebrennikov's house arrest in his appeal. "We will request any measure unrelated to imprisonment," he said.
Moscow's Basmanny District Court on August 23 put Serebrennikov under house arrest until October 19. The stage director will stay under house arrest in his apartment in Moscow's Prechistenka Street, 17.
