Russia to deliver almost 100 trucks to Africa for humanitarian aid distribution
MOSCOW. Aug 31 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia will supply 97 trucks to Africa for UN needs, Rostec state corporation said in a statement.
"KAMAZ will send 97 trucks, 30 trailers built by its subsidiary - Nefaz, and spare parts to Africa by the end of 2018," the statement said.
The delivery is part of the second stage of the World Food Program's project aimed at renovating the humanitarian truck fleet, it said.
"KAMAZ 43118 (6x6) and 63501 (8x8) trucks, training vehicles on the KAMAZ 43118 (6x6) chassis, and tanker trucks will be supplied to Africa. All vehicles are customized for use in the total absence of roads," Rostec said.
Back in 2014-2015, KAMAZ delivered over 200 trucks, dump trucks, tanker trucks and mobile repair workshops to South Sudan, Sudan, Ghana, Uganda and Afghanistan.
In August, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed an order to allocate up to 535 million rubles in 2017-2018 for the implementation of another stage of World Food Program's project aimed at renovating the humanitarian truck fleet.
