Uzbek, Kyrgyz foreign ministers initial draft border treaty

TASHKENT/BISHKEK. Sept 5 (Interfax) - Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov and Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Erlan Abdyldaev initialed the draft bilateral treaty, which delimited 1,170 kilometers and 530 meters of the state border, at the Bishkek negotiations on Monday, the Uzbek Foreign Ministry said in a report.

In addition, "the sides discussed practical aspects of preparations for a state visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Kyrgyzstan, which begins on September 5, and exchanged opinions on regional affairs," the report said.

The Uzbek media said that Mirziyoyev would pay a state visit to Kyrgyzstan on September 5 and 6 at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev.

The treaty delimiting 85% of the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border is due to be signed on September 6, in the course of Mirziyoyev's state visit to Bishkek, Kyrgyz representatives said earlier.
