Eurasian Economic Commission extends cooperation with Int'l Grains Council

MINSK. April 23 (Interfax) - Gohar Barseghyan, Minister of Industry and Agro-Industrial Complex of the Eurasian Economic Commission, and Arnaud Petit, Executive Director of the International Grains Council , signed a protocol extending the memorandum of understanding, the Eurasian Economic Commission press service reported.

"The parties will cooperate in monitoring the grain market, forecasting supply and demand for grains, legumes, and oilseeds, and monitoring government regulations and their impact on the global grain market. Joint consultations and the preparation of analytical documents are planned," the statement read.

"The signing of the protocol marks another significant step in developing cooperation with the International Grains Council. We consider this area of our work particularly important from the perspective of food security both nationally and globally," Barseghyan said in the statement.

Founded in 1949, the International Grains Council is an intergovernmental organization aimed at bolstering international cooperation in grain crops in accordance with the Grains Trade Convention of 1995 and cover trade in grains, oilseeds, and rice. IGC members from the EAEU include Kazakhstan and Russia.
