Azerbaijan, Turkey agree to accelerate creation of energy corridors

BAKU. April 17 (Interfax) - Baku and Ankara assessed the gas supply situation and agreed to accelerate the creation of two green energy corridors through the territory of Turkey, the press service for Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry said in a statement.

"Within the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum in Turkey, meetings were held between Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey Alparslan Bayraktar. The meeting [...] touched upon the role of the Azerbaijani-Turkish energy partnership in ensuring global energy security and sustainable energy supply," the statement said.

The meeting participants assessed the current situation in the sphere of gas supply.

"Also, the development of Azerbaijan-Turkey-Europe and Azerbaijan-Georgia- Turkey-Bulgaria green energy interconnector projects was considered. It was agreed to speed up the processes," the statement said.

The meeting also addressed the organization of the next meeting of the Azerbaijan-Turkey Energy Forum in Azerbaijan this year.

Following the meeting, Bayraktar said on X that Azerbaijan and Turkey are committed to expanding energy cooperation through new projects and long-term partnerships.

"In this period of increasing global uncertainties, we once again confirmed that the Turkey-Azerbaijan energy partnership plays a critical role not only for the two countries but also for Europe's energy supply security," Bayraktar said.
