EU extends sanctions on Russian individuals, entities by another 6 months - Council of the European Union

BRUSSELS. March 16 (Interfax) - The Council of the European Union announced on Saturday that it had prolonged restrictive measures "targeting those responsible for undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine" for another six months until September 15, 2026.

"Individual listings will continue to apply to around 2 600 individuals and entities. [...] The current restrictive measures include travel restrictions for natural persons, the freezing of assets, and a ban on making funds or other economic resources available to the listed individuals and entities," the Council of the EU said on Saturday.

Reviewing the sanctions, the Council decided not to renew them with respect to two persons and remove five deceased persons from the list.

"The EU will continue to provide, in coordination with like-minded partners and allies, comprehensive political, financial, economic, humanitarian, military and diplomatic support to Ukraine and its people," it said.

"The EU remains determined to maintain and increase pressure on Russia," it said.
