Russian-U.S.-Ukrainian meeting in Istanbul is option, but no specifics yet - Kremlin
MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - A Russian-U.S.-Ukrainian meeting in Istanbul is an option, but there is no specific information yet about the next round of negotiations, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"Istanbul is indeed an option, and all the sides feel very positive about it," Peskov said at a press briefing in response to Interfax's question about the venue for the talks.
"There is no specific information regarding the continuation and the next round of negotiations yet. We will let you know as soon as precise information becomes available," he said.
"There is a general understanding that the negotiating process will continue, but there are no specifics at this point," he said.
The circumstances do not allow for holding the talks in Abu Dhabi, Peskov said. "Although, in the future, of course [it is possible]. Everyone highly appreciates the atmosphere created by the UAE authorities for the trilateral negotiations, and everyone is grateful to the UAE leadership for helping organize the negotiating process," he said.
He thus commented at Interfax's request on a statement by U.S. Special Presidential Envoy Steve Witkoff who said the U.S.-Russian-Ukrainian meeting was due next week.
