EAEU approves 5 cooperative industrial projects for financing, another 8 applications passing preliminary examination

MINSK. Jan 30 (Interfax) - The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) approved five cooperative projects in 2025, three of which have moved to the implementation stage, the EEC's press service said following the review of a report on the progress of implementing the financial assistance mechanism for cooperative projects of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) in industry.

Another eight applications passed the commission's preliminary examination last year.

Since the launch of the financial assistance mechanism, the EEC has received 16 applications with a total cost of approximately 18 billion rubles, the press service said.

Additional tax revenues to the national budgets of EAEU countries from the five projects approved last year are preliminarily estimated to be around 3.7 billion rubles over five years, it said.

"As of today, all EAEU countries are participating in the implementation of cooperative projects," the EEC said.

Parallel to the review of project applications, the commission is conducting systematic work to increase awareness among businesses and financial organizations, including providing advice to industrial enterprises in finding partners and forming cooperative projects, as well as work to improve the regulatory framework for implementing the mechanism.

"The first year of implementing the mechanism was dedicated to forming the institutional and regulatory base, refining project selection procedures, building interaction between the commission, member states and financial organizations, and identifying practical problems in regulation. Despite all the difficulties, the initial results of implementing the pilot mechanism have shown its demand. After approving the first five projects, business interest in the new tool has noticeably grown," EEC Industry and Agricultural Sector Minister Goar Barseghyan was quoted as saying.

The financial assistance mechanism for cooperative projects in industry was launched in June 2024 in accordance with the regulations on selecting cooperative projects in industrial sectors and providing financial assistance for their implementation by the member states of the EAEU, approved by the decision of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on October 26, 2023.
