Economy Ministry estimates Ukrainian GDP growth at 2.2% in 2025

MOSCOW. Jan 16 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Economy, Environment and Agriculture Ministry has tentatively estimated the Ukrainian GDP growth at 2.2% in 2025, Ukrainian media said, citing the ministry website.

Among factors hindering the economic growth, the ministry mentioned a smaller harvest of certain crops was due to unfavorable weather conditions - soybean yields decreased by 26.9%, sunflower yields by 15.8%, rapeseed yield by 7.6%, and sugar beet yields by almost 14%. However, the grain harvest increased by 3%.

Furthermore, logistical problems, cessation of natural gas pipeline transit, and a decline in demand, particularly from agriculture, significantly complicated the economic situation.

As reported, the Institute for Economic Research and Policy Consulting estimated the real GDP growth in Ukraine at 2%.

The October inflation report of the National Bank of Ukraine downgraded its economic growth forecast for 2025 to 1.9% from 2.1% due to energy deficit, destruction of gas extraction facilities and a shortage of workforce. The 2026 forecast was downgraded from 2.3% to 2%.
