Agricultural production in Belarus up 0.2% in 2025

MINSK. Jan 15 (Interfax) - Agricultural production in Belarus for all categories of farms increased 0.2% in comparable prices year-on-year in 2025 and amounted to 40.1 billion Belarusian rubles, the country's National Statistical Committee (Belstat) said.

A decrease in agricultural production at the level of 1% was recorded in January-September, in H1 it fell 2.7%, and in Q1 it grew 1.7%.

Belstat previously said that the unstable dynamics of agricultural production last year were caused by shifts in the timing of the harvesting campaign and a poor fruit and berry harvest at household farms.

However, growth in production was noted in agricultural organizations. By the end of the year, agricultural organizations increased positive dynamics, resulting in output worth 33.3 billion Belarusian rubles, which in comparable prices is 2.7% more than a year earlier.

In particular, agricultural organizations last year produced 1.77 million tonnes of livestock and poultry in live weight (+0.1%). Milk production amounted to 9 million tonnes (+5.3%), and 3.4 billion eggs were obtained (+5.5%).

The gross harvest of grain and leguminous crops amounted to 8.7 million tonnes (+10.2% compared to the previous year), sugar beet - 5.7 million tonnes (+17.9%), potatoes - 379,900 tonnes (+13%) and vegetables - 169,700 tonnes (+6.5%). The rapeseed harvest amounted to 852,500 tonnes (-15%).

Agricultural organizations account for 97.3% of the country's livestock and poultry production, 97.9% of milk, 87.2% of eggs, 95.5% of grain, 97% of sugar beet, 12.5% of potatoes and 6.3% of vegetables.

Agricultural production in Belarus grew 3.4% in 2024. In 2023, growth was 1%, and in 2022 it was 3.6%.

The official exchange rate on January 15 is 2.9136 Belarusian rubles/$1.
