Russia for mutually profitable cooperation with foreign countries in AI sphere

MOSCOW. Dec 24 (Interfax) - Participants in the Russian Foreign Ministry board meeting confirmed the need for cooperation with foreign partners to reduce digital inequality, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"The results have been analyzed and the vectors of further political and diplomatic efforts to defend Russia's approaches in the sphere of artificial intelligence in relevant negotiation formats have been set. Special attention was given to the new AI agencies launched in the UN this year - the Global Dialogue on AI Governance and the Independent International Scientific Panel," a statement issued following the Russian Foreign Ministry board meeting on promoting Russian approaches on AI issues said.

"The need to continue mutually profitable cooperation with foreign partners both on multilateral sites and on a bilateral basis to reduce digital inequality and to ensure the security of states in keeping with the UN Charter and its principles was reaffirmed," it said.

Besides, the meeting "addressed issues concerning artificial intelligence as a significant factor in digital transformation" and "the main risks associated with the development, introduction and use of this technology," the statement said.

"The demand for promoting the domestic experience and solutions in the AI sphere to increase the socioeconomic potential of developing countries was emphasized," it said.
