Gazprom sees potential to increase gas exports to Uzbekistan, including LNG
MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - Gazprom is continuing to fulfil obligations under its natural gas supply contract with Uzbekistan, exporting 7.7 billion cubic meters (bcm) per year, and there is significant potential for increasing these volumes, including exports of liquefied natural gas (LNG), the press service of the Russian government said in a statement following the meeting between Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak and Uzbek Minister of Energy Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, who discussed opportunities for further cooperation in the gas, oil and nuclear power sectors.
Russia exported 233,500 tonnes of oil to Uzbekistan in 2024. The countries' oil and gas companies are discussing opportunities for partnering in the development of oil and gas fields with hard to recover reserves in Uzbekistan, the statement says.
Russia was reported to have been transporting LNG to Kazakh consumers via road transport.
The government said that Novak had discussed collaboration in the oil and electricity sectors with Tajikistan's Minister of Energy and Water Resources Daler Juma. "Russia is Tajikistan's main supplier of petroleum products, covering around 90% of the republic's domestic consumption. The countries continue to discuss implementing joint projects to develop oil fields in Tajikistan. Recently, there has been substantial progress in solving issues at the Sangtuda 1 Hydroelectric Power Plant joint enterprise," the press service said.
